Keeping your data safe since 1991

HP C1554 Specifications

HP's new DDS-3 mechanism is DAT at its best, combining outstanding capacity and performance with excellent reliability and low cost of ownership.

The HP C1554A is a perfect fit for medium to large businesses which need reliable network backup. It can be used with a wide range of host systems including PC servers, UNIX® servers and workstations, and small multi-user systems.

High Capacity and Performance

Using hardware data compression, the HP C1554A can store 24 GB on a single tape enough for a full backup of a typical PC LAN. Its transfer rate of 2 MB/s means that this backup would take just over three hours, saving valuable time.

Unsurpassed Reliability

With a combination of reliability features only available from HP, the HP C1554A offers unbeatable data protection.

TapeAlertTM, a new industry standard developed by HP, greatly improves reliability. It informs the backup application of the state of the drive and media, and indicates any maintenance or media changes required. The HP C1554A supports HP TapeAlert Certified Solutions, leading applications which have met HP's high standard of TapeAlert implementation.

The HP C1554A also offers an industry-leading MTBF of 300,000 hours, a feed forward equalizer which enhance data integrity and an internal cleaning mechanism which prevents head clogging.

Investment Protection

In addition to DDS-3 (125 meter) media, the HP C1554A is also completely read and write compatible with DDS format (60 meter and 90 meter) and DDS-2 format (120 meter) media. HP's new time tracking feature enhances the ability to interchange data with out-of-specification DAT drives.

Low Power Consumption

The power consumption of only 3.8W reduces heat emission and improves the reliability of the mechanism and any enclosure.
